Summertime fun. School is out, we enjoy long summer days and nights, but most of all, how rewarding is it to be with family and friends? You may be hosting a pool party or crawfish boil during this season, yet no matter young or old, everyone has special summertime memories. For me, a fond memory is when I learned how to ride my bike. It was during the summer, I was in first grade and my dad bought a hot pink bicycle with a banana seat so that both me and my sister could ride at the same time. My older sister, who I trust more than anyone, convinced me to just close my eyes and enjoy the ride. No less than five seconds later I ran head on straight into a tow truck, smashing my bike and scrapping my knees and arms. I almost feel lucky I didn't break a bone or even worse behead myself. Whatever was I thinking to listen to her and cruise down the road with my eyes closed?? That was 30 years ago and to this day she is my very best friend. There isn't anything I wouldn't trust my sister to advise me on. After all, she has celebrated every happy moment with me in my life; my children, my marriage, those terrible teenage break-ups, and always covering for me when mom and dad wondered where exactly my life was headed. I am so thankful to have a big sister.
